Grandma Sandinos
Salt Lake City, UT
We have been hand making our Sauce since 1986 and it has been the same recipe since 2009. We call it Vegitarian Garlic Sauce in tribute to our “Veggi-Tarian” and Vegan Children that made us take out the cheeses. Our Family tradition was to make the Sauce on the Friday after Thanksgiving, we called it Garlic Friday. In December of 2010, the response got ridiculous. The recipients of our gifts would stop by our house and beg for more sauce.
They would offer to mow our lawn or shovel our walks. They wanted to buy more from us so they didn’t have to wait until next December. We only made enough each year to supply our needs and we didn’t have the certifications and permits to be able to “sell” it to the public.Because of the response we received, we decided to see what it would take to be able to sell our products on the market. In January of 2011 we started Grandma Sandino’s. We went through the process of certifications, approvals and sold our first bottle of sauce in June 2011 at our first Farmers Market.
We have evolved a lot since then and Grandma Sandino’s is now our fulltime business. Without the help of our friends and family we could not have made it to today. We are eternally grateful for our kids and grandkids that have helped with every phase of making, bottling and selling our sauce, Thank you!We are very picky about what ingredients go into all of our products. That hasn’t changed for the past 30+ years. If we wouldn’t eat it or feed it to our family, we would certainly not sell it to you.
